Cabana Boy

Hi. You’ve reached my machine. I’m unavailable to take your call right now, because I won the lottery and am sitting on a beach. “Oh cabana boy, please bring me another refreshing beverage and massage my feet.”

My husband and I joke this would be the outgoing message at my office if we ever won the lottery. Hey, a person can dream, right? I mean don’t get me wrong, if I did win, I would consider it a huge blessing from heaven, but I also know that there would be a responsibility that comes with it. To whom much is given, much is expected. (See Luke 12:48)

I am reminded on a daily basis how God provides my needs. Let’s just call it, “being of a certain age” has given me the wisdom and ability to look back through the years and see how God has met my every need. I can see difficult situations in my past finances and the amazing ways God took care of it. All my restless worry did not solve the problem or give me the perfect solution, but God had one.

I have three parakeets at my office. Their songs brings me joy and lifts my spirits. Especially during tax season. These small animals shed teeny, tiny feathers. One day upon cleaning them up off the floor, I was struck by the magnificence of God. This itty, bitty feather was dressed out with three different colors, little stripes, and in the sunlight, the greens glowed with many hues. The realization dawned on me, if God created the absolute detail of this tiny discarded feather from a small bird, who depends on me for their food, water, shelter, and comfort, how much more can I trust Him to take care of all my needs?

This is why I tell you never to be worried about your life, for all you need will be provided, such as food, water, clothing—everything your body needs. Isn’t there more to your life than a meal? Isn’t your body more than clothing? Look at the birds—do you think they worry about their existence? They don’t plant or reap or store up food, yet your heavenly Father provides them each with food. Aren’t you much more valuable to your Father then they? So which one of you by worrying could add anything to your life? (Matt. 6:25-27 [TPT])

It is so true, precious one! Believe it! God cares about you that much. So go out there strong in your faith. And while you’re at it, get a refreshing beverage and foot massage. You deserve it!
