Sometimes I find God means for me to linger on a certain message until I work through it all. I call it soul simmering. I need to ponder and simmer on it until He deems otherwise.
That happened recently when I read a post by Jennifer Arimborgo entitled You’re Gonna Want to Write that Down. She states, “ Just like you and I, God wants to be wanted. He wants to be deeply, achingly, all-consumingly longed for and pursued.” Those words stuck a deep chord into my soul. I could not stop thinking about them.
Which got me thinking, do you remember falling in love for the first time? You can’t stop thinking about the other person. Just being around them makes you happy. You stare at the other person all the time. You smile without any reason. You feel down when you spend a day without them. Everything in life seems to be nicer. You yearn for them. Being with them feels like home. You focus on the positive. You become more productive. You plan for a future together. You desire to align your interests. You crave an emotional union. You do things out of your comfort zone. You sing. You go out of your way.
I began to look at these very things from God’s perspective.
He can’t stop thinking about us.
Just being around us makes Him happy.
He stares at us all the time.
He smiles without reason.
He does not like us to spend a day without Him.
Everything is nicer.
He yearns for us.
He plans for a future together with us.
He wants us to align our interests with His.
He craves an emotional union with us.
He gives us strength to do things for Him out of our comfort zone.
His sings over us.
He goes the extra mile for us.
“Those who are loved by God, let his love continually pour from you to one another, because God is love. Everyone who loves is fathered by God and experiences an intimate knowledge of him. The one who doesn’t love has yet to know God, for God is love. The light of God’s love shined within us when he sent his matchless Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love. He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins.” (1 John 4:7-10 [TPT])
We are commanded to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Deut. 6:5 [NIV])
We can do this with the help from the gifts of the Holy Spirit within us which are meant to be limitless, by living in His divine love. (see Gal 5:22-23 [TPT])
I don’t ever want the “honeymoon phase” of my love with God to end. I want to live each day like it is the first day, falling in love with Him all over again. I don’t want to be told, “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you left your first love.” (Rev. 2:4 [NKJV]) I want to gaze into His lovely face for the rest of eternity with my undying love.

Amen!! Great post!! An amazing thing about food that is simmering is that the longer it simmers the better it taste. Its just like our relationship with God. The more we have an intimate relationship with him the better we are! God bless you sis!!
