V.P.L. (Visible Panty Line)

You can learn something new every day. My husband showed me this the other day. He asked, “Did you know VPL is a real problem? This commercial says so.” I said, “No, what’s VPL?” Visible Panty Line. Wow, as a woman with a vast and extensive wardrobe, I never even considered it before that day. My wardrobe consists of my work/Sunday go to church jeans, my wearing around the house jeans, and my Carharts for doing ranch chores. Putting on a sting of pearls is dressing up where I live. So I guess it all depends on your focus.

For this post, I’m using the definition of focus as being an adjustment to make a clear image, and any center of attention.

The last several months the world’s focus has been on COVID-19, and more recently, the rioting, looting and destruction of property here in the United States. Life has been crazy and it is hard not to lose focus on what really matter. I hope the following helps put it in perspective.

“So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the God of peace will be with you in all things.” (Phil. 4:8-9 [TPT])

This tells us we need to change the center of what we are focusing on. We need to move past fear, anger, and the current confusion and shift to more important things that give our lives real meaning. Like VPL. No, not really. Like love and caring for one another. It can be the smallest gesture of kindness, because nothing is wasted.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to do my chores. Oh and by the way, I checked the mirror on my way out and the cut of these Carharts do not allow for VPL. That and the cows and chickens are much too kind to point it out if it were visible.

So please make an adjustment in your focus so that you and all you come into contact with have a clearer image of Jesus in you, and that is where our center of attention should be, and not somebody’s panty lines! I’m just saying!

  1. 😂😂😂😂 – your husband is priceless! I love this teaching; keep it going. Based on my birth & life until age 22 as an unapologetic, loud, proud New Yorker (a Bronx chick forever) the VPL was a no-no for this fashionista & indeed they are so unimportant in comparison to the real issues of life

Good list. Probably won’t hear it in a commercial for clothing.
Peace and blessings to you and your ranch mates (including your husband).

  3. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we ALL had a VPL…..change the focus from panties to prayer….a Visible Prayer Line. What a vision. Visualize a Prayer Line and continue your Viable Prayer Life. It could be a whole new beginning for VPL’s. From my heart to yours.
