The brain is funny thing. I have a client and friend who goes to my Women’s Bible Study. She and her husband have an insurance agency in my office building. When I was picking out a memory verse for the week this is how I read it.
“Because you’ve committed yourself to love and trust me, you will be unshakable and insured, deeply at peace, no matter the difficulty.” (John 16:27,33 [MSG])
(I told her and her husband and they thought it was hilarious!)
The word is actually assured. Funny how the mind works.
Assured defined is to make sure or certain, to convince; to inform positively; to make certain the coming or attainment of, and guarantee.
Insured defined is to make sure, certain, or secure to guarantee against loss or harm.
Then there’s ensure which is defined as to make sure or certain to secure or guarantee.
Three different words pretty much saying the same thing.
Which tells me that Jesus knew what he was saying to His disciples. We can rest assured in Him. He has paid the price to secure and guarantee the certain coming attainment of our future in heaven with Him for all eternity. Saying yes to Jesus is the best insurance policy ever!
I also learned a new word yesterday. Eschatological, that is to view all events in the light of the Resurrection and the ultimate triumph of the risen Christ.
When we have that mindset, we have a hope and a future that cannot be dulled by difficulties. We are assured, insured, and ensured all because of Jesus and what He accomplished on the cross. Deeply at peace, no matter the difficulty.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6) I am assured of this, and thanks be to God!
