Fresh baked bread

I have a client who is a realtor. She told me when she shows a house she has either chocolate chip cookies, or a loaf of bread baking in the oven. It permeates throughout the house and gives a sense of comfort for the potential buyers. What a great marketing tool!

In the Bible, bread is a term that refers to everything that is necessary for the wholeness in life—including things we need mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. So when Jesus said, “I AM the bread of life” in John 6:35, that is exactly what He means. He is everything to and for us.

God also said in Hosea 14:9, “Everything you need is to be found in me. If you want to live well, make sure you understand what this really means. If you want what’s best for you, you’ll learn this inside and out.” (MSG-paraphrased)

This is so profound and I cannot stop meditating on it. Everything means everything. Jesus does what He says.

Which makes me incredibly grateful in the Christmas season that He chose to come to earth as baby, to restore us to God’s original plan for humanity.

  1. I read this in 3-D! That is probably the incorrect term, but I pulled a load of sourdough out of the oven just before I read your post, so I could literally smell it! Haha! Thank you for providing the tie between what my senses are experiencing and what my heart feels. God is truly everything. He sustains us, nourishes us, and comforts us. (And so much more!)
