Timing is everything

I believe that timing is everything. Four months ago I slipped on some chicken poop while bringing the chickens water and tore the meniscus in my left knee. I did not need surgery (thank you God!) but had to wear braces and walk with a cane. I also did physical therapy. The therapist told me he thought it would be at least eight months before I was able to walk normally.

The braces got to where there were too tight and cut the circulation off to my calf and foot. I did not know what else to do. So I asked God for help.

Then a client of mine, who is a professional cyclist, came to my office for something. She was wearing her bike shorts and had this black tape stretched over her knee. I asked her what it was and she told me all about this wonderful product. I immediately closed my office, drove to the store and bought some. I came back to the office, looked at the YouTube video she sent me on how to apply it, and did so.

It has made the biggest difference in my recovery time, and about a month ago, I no longer had to use the cane, and three weeks ago I started walking normally again. I still put it on for support. I have two pieces that make an X, just until I can freely walk without pain.

Elastic therapeutic tape, also called kinesiology tape or kinesiology therapeutic tape, Kinesio tape, k-tape, or KT, is an elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive that is purported to ease pain and disability from athletic injuries and a variety of other physical disorders. In individuals with chronic musculosketelal pain, research suggests that elastic taping may help relieve pain.

The product is a type of thin, elastic cotton tape that can stretch up to 140% of its original length. As a result, if the tape is applied stretched greater than its normal length, it will “recoil” after being applied and therefore create a pulling force on the skin.

It provides physical support for muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. KT Health’s web site claims the tape “lifts the skin, decompressing the layers of fascia, allowing for greater movement of lymphatic fluid which transports white blood cells throughout the body and removes waste products, cellular debris, and bacteria.”

All I know is it works and was a God send!

When I was in great pain, God perfectly timed my client to need to come to my office that day, while wearing her tape and bike shorts. He gave me the relief I was praying for, and it helped speed my recovery along.

For I woke up this morning at 2:26 am. with those exact words on my lips. I was so grateful for not having to have surgery. I’m grateful for being able to walk normally. I’m grateful to be able to sleep with out moving and being in pain. I’m grateful I live where I can drop everything and go to the store and find what I need to help with my recovery. All in all, I could not stop praising God for all His blessings to me. Then I went right back to sleep and slept peacefully.
