The Lego Group began in the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen (1891–1958), a carpenter from Billund, Denmark, who began making wooden toys in 1932. In 1934, his company came to be called “Lego”, derived from the Danish phrase leg godt which means “play well”. In 1947, Lego expanded to begin producing plastic toys. In 1949 the business began producing, among other new products, an early version of the now familiar interlocking bricks, calling them “Automatic Binding Bricks”.
The Lego Group’s motto, “only the best is good enough” was created in 1936. Christiansen created the motto, still used today, to encourage his employees never to skimp on quality, a value he believed in strongly.
“You did not choose me, but I chose you…” (John 15:16 [NIV])
In my small group on Tuesday, this was the verse that we discussed the most out of the whole chapter. It was very impactful and thought it would make a great blog post. The tie in with Legos came from me looking for encouraging memes to send to the folks on my daily email list. I saw the Jesus Lego and had my inspiration.
The verb “eklegó” primarily means to choose or select. In the New Testament, it is frequently used to describe God’s sovereign choice or election of individuals or groups for a specific purpose or destiny. (Strongs 1586 Greek)
The term “eklektos” is used in the New Testament to denote those who are chosen or selected by God for a specific purpose or destiny. It often refers to believers who are chosen by God for salvation and service. The concept of being “chosen” emphasizes God’s sovereign initiative in the process of salvation and His special relationship with His people. (Strongs 1588 Greek)
“Present yourselves as building stones for the construction of a sanctuary vibrant with life…” (1 Pet 2:5 [MSG])
God chose us for salvation and to participate in His service. Each one of us, linked together, plays a part in furthering His Kingdom here on earth. We should daily carry out the purpose He called us to, that only our best is good enough. We should never skimp on what we have been chosen to bring to the table. Every day we need to be those interlocking building blocks, playing well, vibrant with life, His life in us.
So go out there today and be the best chosen Lego you can be!

I love this, Sister Super-C! The history lesson about how Legos came to be, and the biblical lesson go together like peas and carrots, or peanut butter and jelly. Can you tell it’s time for a snack?
I wrote a post once called “Life’s Legos” that was all about how Christians can interconnect to help do God’s work.
Blessings to you, and the whole ranch!

That’s interesting, I always thought they were called “Legos” because they didn’t “let go” easily once snapped together. Thanks for correcting my incorrect toy theology.😉😆
Great post, thanks for sharing!
