Once again, it happened to me. And I love when it does.
I read a verse that everyone knows, and we kinda blow over it when we read it, because it is so familiar. But this week, BAM! Romans 8:28-29 hit home afresh.
The part that stuck out was “God foreknew me.”
Defined, foreknow is to have previous knowledge of : know beforehand especially by revelation.
Then the next morning I listened to this song on my drive into work. (No one but You, by Hillsong Worship)
This is the part that got me.
“Who can search the depths of me
And love me to core”
He knows us from before time began, loves us to the core and calls us according to His purpose.
He knows everything there is to know about us. He perceives every movement of our hearts and souls. He understands every thought before we even think it. How? Because He is so intimately aware of us. He’s gone into our futures to prepare the way, and in kindness follows behind us to spare us from the harm of ours pasts. He has laid His hand on us. This is just too wonder, deep, and incomprehensible! His understanding of us brings us wonder and strength. (Based on Psalm 139)
Let that hit you afresh today. God knows us, loves us that much and knowing that can allow us to trust Him fully that He will work out everything, whether it be good or bad.
“It is a matter of knowing I’m in God’s hands no matter what happens. Recognizing that each event, circumstance, person, obstacle, or intrusion that comes my way is because He allowed it. It is accepting His will, to trust the choices of the One who seeks my highest good, and in whose Mind every step and stop has been eternally conceived out of His love for me.” (Growing Slowly Wise by David Roper)
Awestruck. Simply awestruck.

It’s comforting that our lives are in God’s hands. I’m not sure how folks make it without divine help, and I don’t plan to find out!

That’s really good, I was just chronicling this week the past 43 years and came to that same conclusion. Even my “trials” ended in some of the greatest goodness. To think I was lamenting them for the past 4 years!! Thank you for this teaching.

Funny you should mention “lament.” That is part of a theme for next week’s post!
