Struggle Bus

I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish he didn’t trust me so much. (Mother Teresa)

The term “struggle bus” is slang for a difficult or frustrating situation. It often describes times when someone feels overwhelmed.

Boy can I relate to that! I have been going through a struggle bus season since March. It is rugged. But through it all I know God is with me. And now I completely understand the phrase, “sacrifice of thanksgiving.”

For when I come up against a wall, I make that sacrifice and the pressure releases.

“The enemy does his best to get me down. It feels excessive and beyond my strength. But what it really does is bring me to my knees before God. His strength is perfect, and I can endure all these things through Him who gives me strength.” (2 Cor 12:7-9 & Phil 4:13 [MSG])

“Isn’t it wonderful all the ways in which this distress has moved me closer to God? I’m more alive, more concerned, more sensitive, more reverent, more human, more passionate, and more responsible. Looked at from any angle, I’ve come out of this liberated and delivered. Released and free.” (2 Cor 7:11 [MSG])

So the plan of the enemy has backfired! It has been a great learning experience for me to praise and give thanks in the struggle, changing my focus from the struggle to the One who made me. He know His plan for my future, and I can trust Him to see me through to the end.

  1. I’ve taken a few trips on the struggle bus, and have even found myself waiting at the bus stop for it to arrive. Now, I figure it’s going to have to catch me first!

This past Friday was the start of my spiritual warfare weekend. About 1:45 that afternoon, the one-two punch came and sent me stumbling toward the canvas.

Satan’s setups are well designed and almost untraceable, but God gave me a clue: it was too smooth, like a demon directed mini-motion picture—with the actors starting on cue.

The enemy does not define my reality!
