Being Shiny

To continue the theme in my recent posts of Being Salty and Being Fruity, I want to bring it to the logical conclusion here, in Being Shiny. Because guess what the next verse is after being the salt? Being the light! “Your lives light up the world. Let others see your light from a distance, for how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop?” (Matt. 5:14 [TPT]) “So don’t hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.” (Matt 5:16 [TPT])

We left off our quantum physics lesson on what happens to salt when it is exposed to fire with this point:

4) When heat is applied. God never promised that we wouldn’t have any more problems. “These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold – though your faith is far more precious than gold.” (1 Pet. 1:7 [NIV]) Salt does not actually burn, so God is not trying to destroy us with fiery trials, but to transform us to be the light for him. But wait, there’s more! Salt is produced by evaporation. This happens either by solar evaporation or by using some heating device. Solar power comes from the sun. The salt produced in our lives comes from the power of the Son.

There is more to following the sun. Heliotropism is the motion of plant parts, the flowers or leaves, in response to the direction of the sun. Heliotropism in Greek means “sun turn.” The plant maintains more warmth on its surface which attracts pollinators, like bees. Creatures move from flower to flower, carrying pollen, which helps bring about fertilization and seed production. The absorption of solar energy and the rise in temperature also helps with pollination and seed production.

So as we follow the direction of the Son, we receive his warmth which helps us pollinate those around us and produces seeds. “The seed is the Word of God” (Luke 8:11[NIV]). “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness” (2 Cor. 9:10[NIV]). “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds”. (John 12:24[NIV])

That is what we must do. Receive the radiating warmth of Jesus which will in turn help us share the seed/word with others, pollinating them with His love.

But for you, sunrise! The sun of righteousness will dawn down on those who honor my name, healing radiating from its wings! You will be bursting with energy, like colts frisky and frolicking.” (Mal. 4:2 [MSG])

Here are the final two points regarding physics of salt and fire.

5) Gaining positive energy. “I want to remind you that your strength must come from the Lord’s mighty power within you.” (Eph. 6:10 [TLB]) He gives us everything we need to live a life pleasing him. (See 2 Pet. 1:3)

6) Emits a bright-yellow light. Yellow is also one of the three primary colors, the others being red and blue. They are the original, pure colors from which every other color is derived. They hold the most light wavelengths of the spectrum of color and are also reflective. So shine on and reflect Jesus.

There is a saying, “like a moth to a flame.” Moths have an irresistible attraction to the light and heat of an open flame. I’ve noticed that there are those who are drawn to people who are living their lives with passion. I want to live my life as a shiny person of passion! “Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keep your passion toward him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let him fill you with excitement as you serve him. Let this hope burst forth within you, releasing a continual joy. Don’t give up in a time of trouble, but commune with God at all times.” (Rom. 12:11-12 [TPT])

Jesus is the real light and we are drawn to Him! Then Jesus said, “I am the light of the world and those who embrace me will experience life giving light and they will never walk in darkness.” (John 8:12 [TPT])

This verse, speaking of Jesus says, “…is the one who has cascaded his light into us─the brilliant dawning light of the glorious knowledge of God as we gaze into the face of Jesus Christ.” (Cor. 4:6 [TPT])

In closing I share with you this blessing:

The Lord bless you and keep you.

The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.

The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

(Num. 6:24-26 [NIV])

So break forth like the Son and Be Shiny, my friends!
