To quote the great Bugs Bunny, “Of course you realize this means war.” He told this to the magician Ali Bama in the Case of the Missing Hare right after Ali Bama pops him in the face with a blackberry pie. (Thanks Valerie Cullers for being my muse and for your post that we can learn things from cartoons.)

Because it is war folks! The devil is pulling out all the stops using any means he can to distract us. Psychological warfare uses propaganda and threats to intimidate, demoralize, or otherwise influence the thinking or behavior of an opponent. And we are the devil’s opponent. Those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior are on the devil’s hit list. His goal is to distract us from focusing on Jesus and His will for our life.

This post is to make you aware of the tactics from the devil’s playbook so we can see him from a mile away and stop him dead in his tracks. In my research, I found a website that listed brainwashing and mind control techniques. (phinnweb.org)

  1. Peer group pressure- exploiting the need to belong
  2. Love bombing- Creating a new sense of family through touch and bonding
  3. Rejection of old values
  4. Confusing doctrine- Encouraging blind acceptance via lectures of incomprehensible doctrine
  5. Removal of privacy
  6. Verbal Abuse
  7. Sleep deprivation and fatigue
  8. Dress codes
  9. Confession of personal weakness and doubt
  10. Financial commitment
  11. Finger pointing
  12. Isolation
  13. Controlled approval
  14. Change of diet
  15. Guilt and fear
  16. Constant bombardment with noise

Can you imagine any of these examples that are being used in your life? Through television, movies, songs, can’t put your phone down, or social media? I heard a comment once that fits here, Don’t spend too much time on Face Book because someday you’ll have to face the Book.

In the movie The Men who Stare at Goats there is a scene where they torture a prisoner by playing, non-stop, the children’s song “Barney and Friends.” I’ve got to tell you that would drive me crazy! I also cannot stand listening to the news feeds. If it is on in the morning, I insert my foam earplugs so I don’t have to listen to them spewing vitriol, hurting my quiet time and my soul. (How cool is that? I used spew and vitriol in a sentence, something you don’t get to see everyday!)

“…terrifying torrents of destruction overwhelmed me…” (Ps. 18:4-5 [TPT]) “ A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while a fool feeds on trash.” (Prov. 15:14 [NLT])

Don’t let this happen to you or be a fool,  because “the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those who are fully committed to him.” (2 Chron. 16:9 [NIV])

So don’t let the devil pop you in the face with an unexpected blackberry pie, or make you listen to that silly purple dinosaur though daily nonsense. Be ever vigilant! (See 1 Peter 5:8)

  3. Just had someone that I love dearly all of a sudden get mad & write me out of their life today. I’m not about to trip out because it’s just a distraction. So though the love of my life has decided to walk, I decided to let so guess what devil? You missed me with your stupid pie!

    1. I am praying for you to be strengthened my beautiful sister, and you are so right. BAM you just gave the devil the pie in the face, which is what Bugs Bunny does to Ali Bama at the end of the cartoon! I love you and am here for you! p.s. I have extra pies ready at your disposal!

      1. Real friends always have extra pies! Thank you! We went through this once before & I was a mess, crying, stressing etc. It’s a new day – won’t say I won’t speak to him again but he’s permanently forfeited having a great woman in his life. Thanks for lessons God💕💕💕💕

The devil’s tactics are always the same. Man! Funny enough I had to remind myself today that I am not a victim, how can I be when my God is victorious! Thanks for timely post!

    1. I was following God’s lead on the timing. I have a bunch of tax returns to file, and this HAD to get posted when it did. God is so gracious in how He uses things to help others! We are never victims thanks to what Jesus did for us! I love you my strong sister!

  9. Wow! Congratulations for having courage to speak on this! I literally deleted an IG story today because its just so deep. It’s a rabbit hole, but the world needs to hear and see the dilusions and manipulations from satan! I saw a post from @oprahmagazine that ugh, it just shows how far the world is being deceived. With Lady Gaga and Madonna on it. Madonna’s look is even demonic. So, kudos for being courageous sister! Cheers to you!

  10. I absolutely love this!!! I was offline for a few days and so I missed this! It really is a good post and I love the list of methods they use to brainwash people! I, too, would go crazy if they played the Barney song over and over! It would be enough to make you crack! Love to you and thanks!

  11. The parallel between that list of brainwashing techniques, and spiritual warfare traps, is attention-catching! Very insightful post, my friend. And I wholeheartedly concur that Holy Spirit speaks through cartoons. He gave me an important word for a friend that also came through a Bugs Bunny episode. I’m pretty sure He’ll speak through most anything, if we are hungry and listening! 😀 Thanks for a wonderful post!

  12. I loved your cliche that read: “Don’t spend too much time on Face Book because someday you’ll have to face the Book.” I got a chuckle out of that. Now tell me, Just Who can harness the Devil??? I thought that Jesus had already put that phony lion under His feet. A list of brainwashing and mind control techniques. ALL I NEED IS TO REMEMBER WHO HOLDS THE FUTURE…..ETERNAL LIFE. Thanks for being a light on the pathway of those who are searching for TRUTH.
