Defined, a Power of Attorney (POA) is a written authorization to represent or act on another’s behalf in private affairs, and/or business matters. The person authorizing the other to act is the principal. The one authorized to act is the Attorney in Fact.
So here is what I am proposing, I’m giving Jesus permission to have my Power of Attorney. As my Attorney in Fact, I am granting Him the right to have unlimited financial powers over my life. As such, He can make all financial decisions as He sees fit. It is the intent of the Attorney In Fact [Jesus] to make financial decisions that fit my best interest.
That the actual legalize spelled out in an real POA form. And it fits perfectly with what God longs to do for each of us!
Sometimes an attorney is also called an advocate, which is defined as one who speaks in support of another.
“My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.” (1 John 2:1 [NTL])
God longs for us to trust in Him to meet all of our needs.
“Trust instead in the one who lavishes upon us all good things, fulfilling our every need.” (1 Tim. 6:17b [TPT])
“I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ!” (Phil. 4:19 [TPT])
“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, not to be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep you life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” (Matt. 6:30-33 [MSG])
“Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!” (Ps. 37:5 [TPT])
So let’s all make God joyful and sign over our Power of Attorney’s to the best Advocate ever! Don’t delay, do it now!

I am well versed in attempts to control things for myself. The fascinating part is how often that doesn’t pan out as I had hoped and how many times, in total desperation, I have left Jesus in charge and it DOES pan out as I had hoped. Yet still I struggle …

I loved your blog on “Power on Attorney”. I just fired my Attorney because he did not advise me to set up a revocable trust as well as a will document to transfer my assets to my descendants. (Good thing God hadn’t called me home, yet!) Now I have made an appointment with Attorney Jesus, based on your beautiful recommendation. In our conversation, He told me that you will receive a bonus for every person who comes to Him that was recommended by you. HOW ‘BOUT THAT! LOVE YOU, ,GIRL….

I was catching up on reading some comments and love that you are encouraging me that I will get bonuses for each person who comes to Him from these posts. My whole goal was using this avenue to do just that. Bring folks to Jesus, not get bonus points! Love you Girl!

Wonderful post! God’s goodness to us is without end. He showers us with gifts day in and day out. Our cup is indeed full and runneth over, as the psalmist tells us. All things flow from Him in the river of life. When we understand that, we can make peace with a river that flows continuously on our behalf…We understand that we live in an awesome community that God has created. We give and take with one another, and the needs of all are met. God has more than ample provision for His people; it is we who must trust in that provision, knowing He loves His children beyond measure.

Love this analogy! What an excellent way to help us view Jesus from a new angle, as Power of Attorney. The Biblical applications fit perfectly with this concept. May I release my all to Him who knows best and loves me most. It’s so simple. Why is it so hard? Because I like being in charge. Oh Lord, give me a humble heart and love for You that is so big that it squelches all of my efforts to cling to my own puny leadership.
