Defined

Today we’re going to start with a little time travel, all the way back to last millennium. I recall the moment exactly. (Full disclosure, I’m a bit of a nerd.) I was in 7^th grade. I was sitting at the desk in my bedroom doing homework, math homework, to be specific. I had an epiphany, I like math! It clicks in my brain and is clear that problems have solutions. Which is why I love being an accountant. Professionally, it defines me. But in my overall life, I know there is more to my definition than being a pencil pushing, number crunching, bean counter.

As a self-proclaimed nerd, I also love the dictionary. It helps me to dig deeper into the meanings of words and expands my horizons. Define, defined means to determine the limits or nature of something, and to describe exactly.

I like to add definitions of words in my posts. I love my Strong’s exhaustive concordance. But I needed more. I was hungry for more, to dig even deeper into studying the Word of God.

As we’ve all seen this year, things can change at a moments notice. So I was not going to miss the opportunity to order my Christmas present early. It arrived in my mailbox yesterday. It is my new (used) Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament words with a topical index. I bought it for $18. Now I can geek out with words in English, Hebrew, and Greek!

Lately, God has been guiding me to further obtain the definition of who He says I am, and quit listening to the negative that others in the world try to put on me. I trust God and God alone to describe exactly who I am, and because He created me, He determines the limits and nature of who I am in Christ. I will not allow naysayers to try and put me back into the little boxes that make them feel comfortable, but binds me in chains. Jesus has set me free, and I will stick with that, because it is the truth.

I am healed from that. So now I’m going to show off my newfound dictionary, the Greek word for healed is sozo. Defined it means that I’m safe and sound, delivered, made whole, rescued, restored, and saved. I like my new dictionary, is that a great word, or what?

I want everyone who reads my posts to let God define them, and allow Him to make you sozo too! Because Jesus is like math, He has the solutions to your problems. And that’s homework we can all get behind!

With Halloween approaching, I’m going to give you a sneak peek at my costume. I have some numbers written on a piece of paper. I crumble it up in front of someone and ask them to guess what I am. I’m a “number cruncher,” literally!
