My husband was playing some music in the background this morning and this song came on from the Four Tops. I stopped and started really listening to the lyrics, and it was like a big, warm hug from Jesus. That’s why my page is named “God Still Speaks Today,” because if you listen for His voice, He will speak to you using whatever may cross your path.

I am including the lyrics in the post so you too can get the big, warm hug from Jesus today. Read through and tell me if that does not sound exactly like God talking to you right where you are.

The Motown songwriting team of Eddie Holland, Lamont Dozier and Brian Holland (Holland-Dozier-Holland) wrote this in 1966 for the group The Four Tops. Dozier explained: “Brian, Eddie and I often had discussions about what women really want most of all from a man, and after talking about some of our experiences with women, we all three agreed that they wanted someone to be there for them, through thick or thin.”

  3. Apart from being called girl 😯 I can see the spiritual value in such a great song. It reminds me of the Westlife song “You Lift Me Up” which was covered by Russell Watson; I used it during a sermon once years ago…and souls were saved!
