Stand Your ground

Someone broke into my house last night. I did not have to shoot them though. I just pointed the laser sight on their head, and my three cats did the rest.

No, this did not really happen to me. But it sure makes for an interesting visual!

My favorite part of the NRA magazine is the Armed Citizen. It says that firearms are used more than 2 million times a year for personal protection, and that just the presence of a firearm, without a shot being fired, prevents crime in many instances.

“A stand-your-ground law provides that people may use deadly force when they reasonably believe it to be necessary to defend against certain violent crimes. Under such a law, people have no duty to retreat before using deadly force in self-defense, so long as they are in a place where they are lawfully present. It allows citizens to protect themselves if they feel their lives are in danger, regardless of whether they could have safely exited the situation. It further states that no one should feel forced to leave a premises they have every right to be in.”

I live in a “Stand your ground” state. Frankly, we all live in a stand your ground state, of being, that is, spiritually. We are to stand firm against attacks of the enemy

“Christians have had stand their ground instructions for thousands of years. They give real protection for defense against satanic wickedness. God’s protection versus overwhelming evil. God’s peace against spiritual wickedness. So you can stand to withstand. Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.” (bibletruths.org)

“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Eph 6:13)

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Gal. 5:1)

“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.” (1 Cor. 16:13 [NLT])

So let’s all take our lasers and point them on satan’s face, and let the cats do the rest.

  1. So glad you didn’t have anyone actually break into your house. I am so thankful that not only are we to stand our ground but we don’t stand in our own strength but in God’s. This is brings me much comfort. You are loved!!!

  2. I almost dropped my phone, from laughing at your cat joke.😀

Yes, the original (spiritual)stand your ground law was put in place by God Himself. The devil and his evil buddies may try to bluff us with lies, but we should stand firm in our faith.
    Great post!
PS. I live in a stand your ground state, too. However, non-lethal force is my first choice. There are cans of bear spray strategically placed throughout our home.🙃

  3. The evil one can only come against us if we allow him to: “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (1 Cor 10:13) So we must stand. When we flinch or run, the evil one always comes after us.
