Game changer

A few months back I had a game changing experience. My head, heart and soul literally burst into kittens, rainbows and unicorns! (Well, not really, but it sure felt like it.)

Defined, a game changer is a newly introduced element or factor that changes an existing situation or activity in a significant way.

“Faith comes by hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” (Rom 10:17 [NLT])

And how could I hear it unless I was speaking the Word of God, out loud, over myself!

So profoundly simple, but a game changer!

“I believed in God, so I spoke.” (2 Cor 4:13 & Ps 116:10)

So any time I found a Scripture verse that affected me that day, I personalized it, and wrote it down in a book. Then when I needed to refresh my joy and peace, I would declare it out loud. What a difference this had made. It quickly dispels the negative and restores my soul. I now have 137 verses to speak over myself.

As I type this I also want to let you know this is not a “name it and claim it” thing. I’m just doing what Jesus says to do. He said I could “say” to the mountain move, and it would. (This is only one example.)

I choose to take God at His Word. I believe God is who He says He is and I believe God will do what He says He will do. For I also know that the Word of God carries within itself the power to make it come to pass.

This process has also helped me recall these simple verses when I need a word of encouragement. For the Bible also says I am to encourage myself in the Lord.

This game changer has shifted my focus off my problems and on to the Only One who is Worthy, Jesus.

Around this same time, someone handed me a couple of little books entitled, “Scripture Confessions.” They have a pages of verses turned into prayers to speak out loud, on various topics: wisdom, peace, favor, starting and ending the day, etc. I use these to supplement my book. I want to use every tool in the arsenal that I am given to help me do what God has purposed me to do.

So repeat after me, “I believe in God so I speak!” See if your life does not change.

  1. Good post Cindi. Scripture is without doubt our source of strength and encouragement, but there is real power in verbal proclamation of Scripture. I remember listening to Derek Prince’s powerful teaching on this subject some years ago.

  3. I’ve been doing this, too, Sister Super-C. I have several (more like 12.7) scriptures memorized and I recite them throughout the day.
    My favorites are short commands that help me reflect and refocus.

    “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Roman’s 12:12
