I’m sure we’ve all had an encounter with a person like this. They know absolutely everything about everything, and are not at all bashful about sharing their advice and opinions about the situation.
Nobody likes a know-it-all.
It is especially irritating when the start with, “Well if it were me…” and proceed to tell you exactly how they think it should be done. Then get super upset when you didn’t follow their “wise council.”
It’d be like this, “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’” (Isa. 45:9 [NLT])
Frankly I don’t want to be that person with other humans and certainly not with God!
I’m currently reading The Mystery of God’s Will by Charles Swindoll. In it he states that one of the mysteries in life is God’s sovereignty. Here is a passage that really stuck out to my spirit.
“ Whoever is sovereign must have total, clear perspective. He must see the end from the beginning. He must have no match on earth or in heaven. He must entertain no fears, no ignorance, and have no needs. He must have no limitations and always know what is best. He must never make a mistake. He must possess the ability to bring everything to a purposeful conclusion and an ultimate goal. He must be invincible, immutable, and self-sufficient. His judgments must be unsearchable and His ways unfathomable. He must be able to create rather than invent, to direct rather than wish, to control rather than hope, to guide rather than guess, to fulfill rather than dream. Who qualifies? You guessed it…God and God alone.”
My question to myself and to you is, can we live our lives living and believing God to be just this for us?
He is the only Know-it-all I want to take advice from.

Generally the know it alls I’ve met only think they know it all…

Sister Super-C, this reminds me of a quote a fellow blogger shared a few weeks back. I think it was Nancy Ruegg.
“To air one’s views gratuitously is to imply that the demand for them is brisk.” William Strunk, Jr.
Unfortunately, I tend to be one of “those guys,” not a know-it-all, but definitely a consummate over-explainer. Conference room colleagues have literally turned their chairs around when I’ve launched into one of my monologues.😬
Lately, I find it better to launch prayers towards people, rather than advice. If they want my help, and I do love to help, they will ask. If not, I’m a ninja prayer warrior. The poor souls don’t even know what just happened.😃

I love that, launching prayers at people! Ninjas for Jesus! I believe they feel something, and if not I also believe a seed was planted. So that makes you a seed sowing Ninja for Jesus!

I love it! “Seed Sowing Ninja 🥷 for Jesus.” Silent prayers are often the most helpful.

Ha, I definitely know someone like this. But then I always pray, “Lord, will you tell me if I’m like this and don’t see it!? Please!!”

There is so much about the Lord we don’t understand and can’t really comprehend
but we trust Him nonetheless…for His goodness and His graciousness in the midst of
