In Death Valley California, on July 24th, they held their annual marathon. Temperatures got up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. (That’s 49 degrees Celsius.) That’s just plain hot! And then you’re running in that heat, with the sun beating down on you, you build up a powerful, deep thirst.
It reminds me of the Israelites in the desert. There wasn’t a drop of water for the people to drink. They starting complaining to Moses, “Give us water to drink!” They were so thirsty they kept at him. “Why did you take us out of Egypt and drag us out here with our children and animals to die of thirst?”
This is where God told Moses to strike the rock with his staff, the water would gush out, and the people would drink. (See Exodus 17)
Now imagine, these people have a deep, burning thirst. Do you think they would then say this?
“I find water fascinating, don’t you? Did you know the chemical composition is one part hydrogen and 2 parts oxygen? I’m amazed that it can also be liquid, frozen into ice, and steam when heated. It also can be used to clean things. It is beautiful the way it refracts light. An over a period of time it can wear down things to make them smooth, or with great force, can destroy.”
NO! They ran up to the water and began gulping it down as fast as they as they were able!
So why is it that people now who have unlimited access to the True Source of Living Water, but they are too busy talking about other things, than going up and gulping down long, cool drinks of it?
Deep down they have a burning thirst and they unable see the Water right in front of them!
Do you think the runners in Death Valley would come to a water station and refuse a drink?
“Each of us is now a part of his resurrection body, refreshed and sustained at one fountain—his Spirit—where we all come to drink.” ( 1 Cor 12:13 [MSG])
Let’s quit ignoring our thirst and drink deeply and fully of what Jesus died on the Cross to provide.

There is no thirst like spiritual thirst for the things of God, and the willingness to drink of His water every day. Sadly so many people know that they are thirsty for Him, but do nothing about it. Great post sister! You reminded me of Christ meeting the woman at the well: “Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
— John 4:10
I am quite thirsty now! 😁

Great addition to this post brother! Now I’m going to get 2 drinks. The 1st a glass of water, and the 2nd a drink from the Word of God!

Most days I find myself thirsty, but struggle to drink from the best source. I reach for my phone, when I ought to reach out to God.

The thirst for the Living Water is developed. You have one drop and you want another. People don’t know what they are missing. When the Word was in our culture more, people were exposed to it. Now, it is a side note and many people are totally ignorant of it.
Exposure to even one verse can make people thirsty!

Good points, we need to keep doing our parts to those around us to make them thirsty!
