Surprise!

The ichthys comes from the Greek and is a symbol consisting of two intersecting arcs, the ends of the right side extending beyond the meeting point so as to resemble the profile of a fish. The symbol was adopted by early Christians as a secret symbol to determine if another was indeed Christian. It is now known as the “Jesus fish”.

Iota = Jesus

Chi = Anointed

Theta = of God

Ypsilon = Son

Sigma = Savior

According to tradition, ancient Christians, during their persecution by the Roman Empire in the first few centuries after Christ, used the fish symbol to mark meeting places and tombs, or to distinguish friends from foes. When a Christian met a stranger in the road, the Christian sometimes drew one arc of the simple fish outline in the dirt. If the stranger drew the other arc, both believers knew they were in good company.

So imagine my surprise one day when God showed me I was in good company, His. Walking back one morning from doing ranch chores, I looked down and saw this outline made of straw, on the ground. I stopped in my tracks and had to catch my breath! Then of course, run into the house and get my cell phone so I could share the image with you.

By the next day the wind had blown the straw apart. So imagine my surprise this morning when walking back from doing morning ranch chores, there it was again!

I love that God loves us SO much that He is happy to do little things, that are actually big things to let us know we are in good company when we stick close to Him.

So look for the daily reminders God places in your path about Jesus, the anointed of God who is the Son and Savior, because I 100% believe that He will and He does.
