I read this the other morning and it took my breath away. When I think of the restraint Jesus showed on the cross, I am eternally grateful.
In celebrating His birth, I also celebrate His ultimate “end game” via the cross. Restoring our relationship with the Father, like it was meant to be from the beginning.
(From Jesus Calling Dec 20th)
“I could have called down legions of angels to rescue Me at any point. Imagine the self-control required of a martyr who could free Himself at will! All of this was necessary to provide the relationship that you now enjoy.”
As one of the fruits of the Spirit, self-control, as seen in this light, makes me bow in awe before Him.
Thank you Jesus for coming to earth as a baby and remaining faithful to the Father’s will to restore us to You.
That sure says Merry Christmas to me!

Great point…it reminds me of videos I’ve seen where the old gray dog lets the toddler yank, squeeze, scratch, and pull on him. He could end the annoyance and pain whenever he wants with a snap of the jaws, but exercises great patience and love instead.
Thank God for His patience indeed! Have a very blessed and merry Christmas!

From my morning readings: “Today you will know the Lord is coming, and in the morning you will see his glory.” I pray you have a blessed Christmas.
