Who knew it was this simple? I recently had my teeth cleaned and my hygienist said she was so proud of me! After my previous cleaning 3 months ago, one morning I saw on my tube of toothpaste, “Brush 2 times a day for 2 minutes.” I thought, okay, I can do that. But it turned out to be harder that I thought. I’m brushing and looking at the second hand of my watch trying to track two minutes. It was too confusing. I thought there has to be an easier way.
So I found this adorable little hour glass timer and ordered it. Now I just flip the thing over and concentrate on brushing every single part of my mouth. I found two minutes is a long time. “Now what do I brush?” But it paid off with the hygienist. I gave her one of my extra hour glasses to show her other patients.
Which got me to thinking, time is relative. Brushing for two minutes seems long. The last two minutes in a football game can be long. Trying to slowly eat a dark chocolate caramel for two minutes to savor it, impossible.
So thinking of my post last week on nanoseconds, I knew I had to do the math of how many nanoseconds are in two minutes. (https://godstillspeakstoday.com/2026/01/24/nanosecond/)
There are 120,000,000,000 nanoseconds in two minutes.
A million has 6 zeros, while a billion has 9 zeros, and a trillion has12 zeros.
Looks like it is in the trillions.
Now when I brush my teeth, I am reminded that God loves me in the trillions in those two minutes.
If that does not show time is relative, I don’t know what will!
Timing is everything!

What a great follow up to your nano second post! Time is indeed valuable, and some seconds, and even nano seconds are more precious than others.
When I worked as a dairy hand in high school one of the cows 🐄 calved in late January, when it was 19 degrees. The boss had me take the new born calf to the warm barn, but the mom was too weak to get up. When I came back to help, he was kneeling next to her holding a bag of warm saline solution, dripping an I.V. into her. After about 10 minutes, he took the needle out and she got up and walked away! We brought her calf out to her later that morning. Minutes counted!
