Out of the mouth of babes

Is is God’s longing to communicate with us heart to heart. Sometimes kids have the best solutions. We adults tend to over complicate things.

From Fil Anderson’s book, Running on Empty, he mentions how he and his then eight year old son were discussing a high school retreat Fil was about to talk at. His son suggested he tell them how to pray. He asks how he would suggest he go about it.

His son replies, “Dad, do you remember how I used to pray…how I used to just tell God things? Well, now I don’t pray that way anymore…that is, from my head. Now I tell God about what’s in my heart, then listen to see if I can hear God tell me what’s in his heart.”

Out of the mouths of babes!

“My heart has heard you say, ‘Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I’m coming.’”

(Ps 27:8)
