Where I live always gets cold this time of year. I mean really cold. This morning it was 18 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit), and it has now warmed up to 6 degrees above zero at 1 p.m. Today I was having a conversation with someone about a diesel station wagon we had in 1987. There was a three week period where it did not get above 26 below zero! The diesel fuel in the station wagon gelled up, and it would not start until it got warmer.
Diesel fuel begins to crystallize during cold weather. When the weather is close to 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit, gelling starts to occur and can clog the fuel system. Fuel gelling is a phenomenon that happens when the paraffin wax in diesel solidifies because of a drop in temperature.
“One of the prophetic signs of the end time is that the love of many shall wax cold.” (Matt. 24:12 [KJV] That means the fervency and the intensity with which some started serving God will begin to go down. There won’t be anymore fire in their eyes or souls. Jesus explained, as we move further into the Last Days, closer to the Tribulation, “iniquity” which is “wickedness” will increase. Due to that, the love and respect people have for each other would grow cold and turn to ice. (Sound familiar?)
I don’t want to be like the paraffin wax in diesel and wax cold. I want to have that same fire I did when I first became a Christian. I don’t want to become sluggish in my walk with Jesus to the point where I don’t even start.
My church begins each year with a corporate fast. Each year they send out an email with this:
“Fasting is an act of worship, sacrifice born of love, and the desire for more of God. I want to go into God as far as I can to receive everything He has for me, to better understand the mind of Christ.”
That’s it! I want to get as far into God as I can! I want to be hot wax for Jesus! Will you join me readers? I’m in. “Wax on. Wax off.” A famous line from the movie The Karate Kid. 😉Seriously, your illustration about the diesel station wagon is spot on. The gelling happens gradually as the temps drop and then it’s too late—until it warms up again. God’s people do seem to go hot and then cold and then somewhere in between when it comes to living for Christ. At this day and time it’s best to stay plugged in; keep those engines warm. Blessings!

Amen! A prayer I pray for my family a lot is asking the Lord to make His love increase in our hearts for each other and for everyone else. May His love always burn brightly in our hearts! By the way, it was 80 degrees here in FL today. It actually got down into the low 30s a few days ago, but the cold never lasts long. Sending you some tropical warmth! Blessings!
