I love it when I’m offered more! Don’t you? Especially if it’s free! Well that’s whats going on here, right now, this very second.

In my previous post, Rescued, I was sharing about the man born blind that Jesus healed. (See John 9) He was taken before the Pharisees where they questioned him twice about how he was healed. Here’s an excerpt.

“Then they ask him how he made this happen. The man tells them, “I told you once. Didn’t you listen? Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?” Then they cursed him and said we don’t know anything about this man.” The now seeing man replies, “Why, that’s very strange! He healed my eyes, and yet you don’t know anything about him! Well God doesn’t listen to sinners, but he is ready to hear those who worship him and do his will. Never since the world began has anyone been able to open the eyes of someone born blind. If this man we not from God, he couldn’t do it.” He just boldly proclaimed the truth to these men, which is what they asked for! The Pharisees got mad, called him a sinner, got all proud and uppity saying, “what, are you trying to teach us?” and threw him out of the synagogue.”

Now here’s the bonus content.

They got all mad, because, obviously, they’ve been studying the Law and know it inside and out, in their own minds. (But not in their hearts.) They’re too full of pride in keeping the Law, that they miss the Truth that’s right in front of them. “God has made them all look foolish and has shown them their wisdom to be useless nonsense. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” (1 Corinthians 1: 20,27 [NLT])

“The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense.” (Prov 10:21 [NLT])

“For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy.” (Prov. 2:6, 9 &10 [NLT])

When Jesus heard what happened, he went and found the man. “God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.” (1 Cor 1:30 [NLT])

Wisdom (Jesus) comes to us when we seek Him. We just need to have some common sense, like the man born blind, and see the Truth when it (He) comes into our life. He made it simple enough that children can understand it. We don’t have to be a rocket scientist or brain surgeon to understand His love, we just need to see Him, just like the man he healed. He was able to really see Him physically and spiritually.

This is worth repeating. “When Jesus heard what happened, he went and found the man. He stopped what he was doing, and went to the man and asked him if he believed in the Son of Man. The man said, “who is he because I’d like to know.” Jesus replied, “you have seen him and he is speaking to you.” And the man believed and worshiped Jesus.”

Finding the right way is just that simple.

  1. I am so glad it isn’t rocket science to believe Jesus our Lord and Saviour! Yet on sad reflection there are so many lost people who are blinded like the pharisees in this story; may the scales be peeled from their eyes soon.
