A recent blog post of a friend on mine on WP, had some amazing pictures of the full moon and a beautiful prayer. https://bluecollartheologian.blog/2022/08/12/i-see-the-moon/
I too was marveling at the full moon in the night sky, and had recently read this from Robert Fulghum’s books, I was on fire when I lay down on it, about the moon. He was talking about falling out of a tree, but the good news is that gravity is easing up.
“The moon is moving away from the earth at the rate of two inches a year, because gravity is decreasing. This means that every year you weigh about one potato chip less than you weighed the year before. It’s true. And that means the older you get, the softer you will hit the ground. Five hundred billion years from now, you could fall out of a really tall tree and never hit the ground at all. You would float and fly. Now that’s something to look forward to. It’s comforting to know there’s hope for the future. Things are going to get better on some fronts. At least. I thought you’d like to know that.”
So I thought I share some more Good News about the moon from Matthew 24:26-30 [NLT]
“So if someone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,’ don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look, he is hiding here,’ don’t believe it! For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near. “Immediately after the anguish of those days,
the sun will be darkened,
the moon will give no light,
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.
And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather his chosen ones from all over the world—from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.”
Jesus come soon please and thank you!
Then on my desk calendar the other day was this:
“Guess how much I love you? I love you right up to the moon and back.” (Sam McBratney)
Which means, that as the moon is moving further away from the earth with each passing year, I love you more with each passing year! There is hope for the future!
(Gosh I love how science works in God’s universe!)

It’s good to know gravity is easing up as the moon moves away. 5,000,000 years from now we’ll all be flying. I wonder if there is gravity in heaven? What about potato chips? You really do make a guy think. 🤠

I still believe that I will the day of the Lord’s return. I suppose every Christian from day one has believed that, but… yeah.
