I asked an insider in the police department, (I’ve always wanted to say something like that!) what equipment he wears when on duty. The thing that stuck out the most was that they now have bullet proof vests that carry the equipment that might normally go on their belts. He said this saves their backs when sitting in the patrol car, as all that stuff would bulge and poke in their backs, causing pain in the future. He said he also wears suspenders under his vest to hold up his belt, to relieve the weight of the items on the belt, which saves them hips issues later.
