White go go boots

I love taking walks at the ranch. It is quiet and I get to enjoy the glory of God’s creation. In the fall, some of God’s creations produce little seeds that become burs and stick to my socks and pants. It is very irritating to take time to pull off all the burs my pants and socks after a lovely walk with God. I don’t want anything to distract me from His Presence. So I wear my green, rubber knee high muck boots. (No, they are not white go go boots.) (Yes, they are the same boots that killed the snake in my post Snake in the grass.)

So when I read this verse the other morning, it reminded me of a song I listened to my my AM/FM radio in my bedroom when I was just a little kiddo.

“So now the LORD says, ‘Stop right where you are! Look for the old, godly way and walk in it. Travel the path and you will find rest for your souls.’” (Jer. 6:16 [NLT])

These Boots Are Made For Walkin’

Nancy Sinatra

January 22, 1966

“You keep saying you got something for me
Something you call love, but confess
You’ve been messin’ where you shouldn’t have been messin’
And now someone else is getting all your best

These boots are made for walkin’
And that’s just what they’ll do
One of these days, these boots are gonna walk all over you
Yeah

You keep lyin’ when you ought to be truthin’
You keep losin’ when you ought to not bet
You keep samin’ when you ought to be changin’
Now what’s right is right, but you ain’t been right yet

These boots are made for walkin’
And that’s just what they’ll do
One of these days, these boots are gonna walk all over you

You keep playin’ where you shouldn’t be playin’
And you keep thinking that you’ll never get burnt, hah
I’ve just found me a brand new box of matches, yeah
And what he knows you ain’t had time to learn

These boots are made for walkin’
And that’s just what they’ll do
One of these days, these boots are gonna walk all over you

Are you ready, boots?
Start walking”

I can apply these lyrics as if I’m singing them to the devil. So I’m going to start walking and walk all over him. He keeps offering a false substitute to love, and he keeps lying. The devil keeps thinking that he’ll never get burnt, but his fate is already sealed to eternity in the flames of hell.

“Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways!” (Psalm 119:1-3)

“I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice.” (Prov 8:20)

Why were they called go go boots? The term go-go is derived from the French expression à gogo, meaning “in abundance, galore”, which is in turn derived from the ancient French word la gogue for “joy, happiness”.

So send me your pictures of you in your white go go boots! I can’t wait to see you walking all over the devil in them, and you will find joy, happiness and rest for your soul, in abundance!

    1. My white go-go boots look a LOT like Sorrel- Sorrels. ( another cow bites the dust!) I can go-go faster in the snow-snow with them on!!! THEN, they turn white-white and i go-go farther-farther.
I LOVE the song!!! I actually still sing it in my head every twice in awhile.
I so love being in God’s nature whatever the weather, especially in this valley. What magnificent blessings we are privileged to see, hear, taste, smell and feel. I just LOVE where i live and praise God daily for what He has done.
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow🙏🏻🤲✝️🕊

  1. Go-Go boots! I remember Nancy’s song well. She sung it with stomping attitude 😎 I still recall the story of the time I stepped across the parental line “insisting” I must have a pair of Go-Go boots. Needless to say, I never did get those boots. 😅 Now you’re having me singing her song walking on the ol’ snake’s head!

  2. I’ve never owned a pair of go-go boots, but I did have a pair of white patent leather platform shoes that I was forced to wear–along with a three-piece peached-colored suit–for Easter Sunday. It was hideous. That said… those shoes could have done some serious devil stomping. I walk in Merrell’s these days, but they get the job done just fine as well.

    1. I had an unexpected walk last night around 8:30pm, in our lower pasture, where we are keeping the grass growing to let the cows in soon. There was about 8 deer in there munching away, so I walked out and shooed them off. It was so quiet and beautiful.

  3. I love this…another post with your snake stomping boots!😉
I keep on walking but I can’t wear long boots anymore due to my lymphoedema…so gogo boots are in the wardrobe now. As I read your post I was reminded of our duty as servants of God to keep walking forward, always forward in His guidance and love. God bless you sister.
